The "St. Roch" Left On August 22nd And Not Until Sptember 4th Did The Ship Reach Holman Island, Having Completed For The First Time The Northern Route. In 1950, The "St. Roch" Sailed From Vancouver To Halifax Via The Panama Canal Became The First To Circle The Continent. Walter "Babe" Pratt, Was Born At Stony Mountain, Mb, On January 7, 1916. He Played Amateur Hockey With The Elmwood Maple Leafs And Then With The Kenora Thistles. The Philadephia Rangers Took Him Up To Pro And In January 1936, He Went To The New York Rangers And Won The Stanley Cup. In 1942 He Was Traded To The Toronto Maple Leafs. In A 50 Game Schedule He Scored 17 Goals And 40 Assists For An Nhl Record Of 57 Points. He Won The Hart Trophy And Was Named On The First All-Star Team. In 1947 He Was With The Pennsylvania Hershey Bears And Then Moved To The New Westminster Royals (Vancouver). He Finished His Career With The Tacoma Rockets (Washington). He Spent A Record 26 Years In Hockey From Juvenile To A Coach'S Berth In The Western League. He Had Ability, Leadership And A Rare Knack Of Inspiring All Those Who Played With Him. He Was On 15 Championship Teams |

Walter "Turk" Broda, The Vezina Trophy Winner Nhl 1941 & 1948, All-Star 1941 & 1948. Shown Here Playing In Full Uniform In Goal. He Was Born In Brandon, Manitoba On May 15, 1914. He Starred In Amateur Hockey With Brandon Juvenile And Junior Teams, In 1933 - 1934 As A Junior With The Winnipeg Monarchs. He Played For The International League Champion Detroit Olympics In 1934 - 1935. Shortly After He Was Sold To The Toronto Maple Leafs For The Then Record Price Of $8,000. His Pro Career, All With The Leafs, Spanned 16 Seasons With Tow Out For Service In The Canadian Armed Forces During World War Ii. He Twice Won The Vezina Trophy (1940 - 1941 And 1947 - 1948) And Shared It With Al Rollins In 1950 - 1951 When Rollins Played 39 Games And Broda 31 Games. In The Playoffs Broda Earned 13 Shutouts In 101 Playoff Games, Both Stanley Cup Records, And Establishe 2.08 Goals Against Record. He Also Played On Five Stanley Cup Winners |

William "Billy" Mosienko Was Born In Winnipeg On November2, 1921. He Played With The Tobin And Shelburn Clubs And Then Juniior With The Monarchs. He Turned Professional At 18 With The Chicago Black Hawks, Farmed Out Ot Providence For Half The Season And Joined Kansas City But Went Quickly Back To The Black Hawks Where He Stayed For 14 Seasons. In 1943 - 1944, He Teamed Withclint Smith And Doug Bentley For 219 Points. He Won The Lady Byng Trophy In 1944 - 1945. He Spent 20 Years In Professional Hockey With Teams In The American, National And Western Leagues. During That Time He Played In 1,030 Games, Scored 435 Goals With 453 Assists For A Point Total Of 888. He Spent Only 129 Minutes In The Penalty Box. He Was Selected On The Managers' And Coaches' All-Star Team In 1943 - 1944 And The Next Season Was On The Second Nhl All-Star Team. In 1951- 1952, He Set A Record Forthe Fastest 3 Goals In The Nhl, This In 21 Seconds At New York Against The Rangers On March23, 1952. He Retired At The End Of 1955 Season And Helped Establish The Winnipeg Warriors In 1955 -1956 |
